Bento Box ideas #3

I love creating Rose her own little Bento box at lunch time. This week I bought some new bits and pieces to jazz up her Bento box including these really cool food picks and sandwich cutters in the shapes of a panda, cat and a frog. So cute! I also bought some really tiny flower and butterfly shaped cutters which definitely encouraged her to eat the vegetables. I had so much fun putting her lunch together, here’s what I included:

Bento box

  • panda shaped ham sandwich and a mini babybel
  • corn on the cob and some raspberries
  • 2 pieces of Kinder chocolate
  • greek yoghurt with a sprinkling of chia seeds
  • unsalted ‘Wonderful Pistachios’ and blanched ‘Wonderful Almonds’*
  • carrot flowers and strawberry butterflies

Nuts and seeds are one of my favourite things to give the kids to snack on and I love watching Rose figuring out how to get the pistachio nuts from the shells. This takes a great amount of concentration and perseverance on a toddler’s part who hasn’t quite got the nimble fingers that we have but I look at it as a great exercise in hand eye co ordination. Lord knows I can get through half a bag of these in ten minutes!

They are so moorish and how on earth do they get the flavour inside the shells? That’s what I want to know! Wonderful Pistachios come in four flavours; Sweet Chilli, Roasted Salted, Salt & Pepper and Roasted Unsalted. My favourite being the chilli closely followed by the Salt & Pepper. The Wonderful Almonds come Natural, Roasted & Salted and Blanched. Brilliant to pop into the changing bag to keep on hand as a quick snack.

That’s our Bento box for this week. I’d love to hear what’s in yours.
