Do you want to try a detox cleanse but can't justify the cost?
Are you looking for a way to kick-start weight loss or a new health regimen?
Do you want clearer skin, shinier hair, and an improved digestive system? Or maybe you just want to have a restful night's sleep and wake up with a renewed sense of energy.
If you answered yes to any of those questions then my DIY detox cleanse is for you.
I've written these recipes specifically for detox and I've worked out a way for you to do your own DIY detox cleanse without having to buy anything pre-made, that's a saving of well over £100.00!
To get a 3-day detox cleanse delivered can cost in the region of £165 which is just way too expensive for most.
I've managed to put a plan together for around £38.00 which is a fraction of that price.
Why do a DIY Detox Cleanse?
I cleanse because I enjoy detoxing my system and starting anew with a fresh body and mind.
I want to be able to do a detox cleanse whenever I feel like it and not have to pay a premium price by having a detox pre-made and delivered.
I use a Nutribullet blender which I treated myself to in anticipation of juicing every single day.
Admittedly I haven't quite been juicing daily or even weekly, although I have the most wonderful intentions, sometimes life gets in the way and plans are temporarily set aside.
We all do that don't we?
But the point is, this is something you can set aside 3 days for and do pretty cheaply with amazing results.
It's also a great way of losing a few pounds before a special occasion and you'll feel so much better after you've done a detox cleanse.
Trust me.
The only investment here would be to buy a really decent blender. I just love the Nutribullet, it's one of the best kitchen appliances I've ever bought, they've come down massively in price now too and worth every single penny in my opinion.
For this DIY Detox Cleanse, you'll need: a blender, fruit and vegetables from the recipe card below, freezer bags for any leftovers, large cup/storage containers with lids.
What is a Detox?
A process or period of time in which one abstains from or rids the body of toxic or unhealthy substances; detoxification. - Dictionary definition
A detox can help you to reset. If you read my diary towards the end of this post you will be able to see that I enjoyed the detox process so much because it really helped me distinguish between the feeling of wanting food and needing food.
I felt really good afterwards and once I'd passed the initial feeling of having a headache and craving coffee I experienced the best night's sleep and felt seriously energetic and healthy.
If you've never done this before I guarantee you will feel amazing at the end of your cleanse and you'll continue to make 3 day and even 5 day detoxes part of your life!
What's Better Blending or Juicing?
When I do a detox cleanse I use a Nutribullet to make smoothies. It doesn't extract juice and instead blends up the fruit and vegetables retaining the pulp and thus the all-important fibre.
If you want to use a juicer or a blender that's your choice, either way, the recipes will work. I personally feel a blender is the healthier way to cleanse but each to their own :)
Healthline has a really good article explaining the differences between Juicing vs Blending which is well worth a read.
Detox For Weight Loss
I know lots of people searching for a juice cleanse or detox will be considering doing it for weight loss.
If weight loss is your primary goal then a cleanse is not the answer. Sure, if you resolved to drink only liquid fruit and vegetables for 30 days at a time you will definitely lose weight.
You'll probably notice you lose a few pounds doing a 3 or a 5 day cleanse but for healthy weight loss you should be aiming to lose 2 pounds a week over a sustained period of time.
I've been yo-yo dieting since I was 18 and the ONLY thing that worked for me was Weight Watchers. You can read more in my article Does Weight Watchers Flex Really Work?
How to do a DIY Detox Cleanse
Since writing this detox cleanse I've had a few comments questioning the quantities:
Please Note EACH recipe is for 3 juices. You will have to store what is leftover and it's perfectly fine to do so in the fridge as the duration of this cleanse is only 3 days.
I've done this cleanse many times now and have triple checked the quantities needed, so you really shouldn't have a surplus if you follow the list and drink 6 juices a day (one of each recipe).
You don't need to buy both the agave nectar and raw honey so choose one or the other.
I include a reference to agave as it makes this cleanse completely vegan but if you prefer honey that works great too.
If you have any questions please feel leave me a comment below and I will do my best to help.
I would recommend that you drink 6 juices a day, one of each colour is what works best.
It doesn't matter what order you drink them in although I find the 'White' and 'Gold' are lovely for evenings as they taste indulgent and soothing.
The method to make the juices is the same for all recipes. With each of the juices, you will need to add water to the other ingredients.
I've been asked how much water is required, but that can be a bit of a how long is a piece of string question as it will depend on how powerful your blender is and what consistency you like your smoothie.
I suggest you experiment with the amount of water and adjust as per your requirements.
You will find the recipes make a plentiful amount so quantities may need to be adjusted depending on the size of your fruit and veg and the size of your blender.
If you do find yourself with a surplus then consider doing a 4 or 5 day cleanse or bagging up any chopped leftovers to freeze and use next time.
Simply chop, blend or juice and enjoy!

How did I get on with my 3 day detox cleanse?
Day one
I wake up really excited to start the juice cleanse and take a real joy in opening my fridge and seeing all the colourful and fresh produce in there. Just looking at it makes me feel instantly healthier!
By lunchtime, I can't stop thinking about food and begin wondering what on earth I am doing.
As I've planned a whole blog post around doing the cleanse and bought all the ingredients I persevere, for the sake of my readers. I am a juicing martyr.
Perhaps I am going a little over the top, it has only been just over 12 hours since I last had solid food and I decide I'm being slightly dramatic.
At dinner time I prepare my family's meal and make a big point of making them feel bad for eating while I'm just having juice.
Feel a bit sorry for myself and then remember that I am the one who wanted to do this in the first place and no one is forcing me.
Make mental note to be more positive tomorrow! I go to bed with the worst headache as haven't had a coffee all day and put it down to that.
Day two
Less cheery this morning and not relishing the thought of juice for breakfast.
I continue regardless and to my surprise thoroughly enjoy my first juice and feel really refreshed once it's finished. Maybe this isn't too bad after all?
At lunchtime, I have a renewed sense of vigour and looking forward to continuing on. Have a really busy day and don't feel hungry at all.
Drink another couple of juices and make dinner as usual. This time I can handle food without being tempted to sneak a bite.
Not interested in eating today and don't want to undo the good work I've done.
Feel a bit tired so go for an early night which is unheard of for me as I usually stay up working until 1-am. Have the best sleep ever!
Day three
Wake up feeling seriously amazing. I don't feel hungry at all and looking forward to the day.
Really enjoying having a flat stomach and haven't got any bloating at all. Feel really great.
Also, notice my skin looks really good and eyes not as baggy as usual.
Result!
Have some time of reflection today and realise that there is a definite difference between feeling hungry and wanting food.
Must remember this for when I'm not juicing and feel like eating a whole packet of biscuits. The family all very impressed with me that I 'lasted' this long and don't believe that I didn't cheat. I honestly didn't.
In Summary
I really enjoyed doing the juice cleanse and experienced the best results on the 3rd day, really glad I didn't give up and feel I could have gone on for 5 days.
During the 3 days just looking at all the fresh produce and juicing it myself has helped me to process the cleanse in a visual way.
I feel super healthy and renewed.
I would most certainly do the juice cleanse again, possibly for 5 days next time.
I felt brilliant after and it has given me a real boost to continue with healthy eating.
I am also still using my blender at least once a day to ensure I get all those lovely nutrients into my diet.

Sounds great, definitely better than forking out for a cleanse to be delivered, and fresher too! I haven't attempted anything like this but I do intend to start using my juicer again a bit more now that I've got a little bit more time on my hands, it always makes me feel better. Love your recipes! Unfortunately I was foolish enough not to buy a nutribullet so I can't do nuts and things :( still love my juicer though.x
Amy
The nutribullet is good for nuts and things but you could try using a pestle and mortar to crush them to a powder then stir them in? Let me know how you get on if you try it! x
Mary Stavola
Hi! I’m looking forward to trying this cleanse! Can you let me know roughly how much water to put into each juice? Thank you!
Amy Treasure
Enough to cover the fruit/vegetables. Add more if it's too thick. Hope it goes well! Amy
Amber
Approximately how many ml is one serving of juice in the end? (Enough to fill your average size mason jar..?)
Thanks!
Latia
Can’t wait to try this - how many ounces should each juice be?
Rachel
I have 2 small children and trying to make juices through the day will be difficult. Can I batch make them and just keep them in the fridge to take out when I need over the 3 days?
stephanie
HI Amy,
can we prepare all the juice the first day and keep them on the fridge?
thank you
stephanie
Amy Treasure
Yes
Kay
Hi Amy can I do this only for one day a week or is it better 3?
Candice Eaton - South Africa
Good Morning from Sunny South Africa.
My sister in law, my mother and myself are all going to try this fast. We just need some guidance please on how many times a day you are supposed to drink a 350ml juice? 3 or 4 or 6 times a day.We already do intermittent fasting and want to do this as a way to "shock" our systems into being healthier and detoxing. Thanx and we look forward to your response. Candice
Everything Mummy
sounds great well don't you for sticking to it i don't know it i could I'm such a picky eater! x
Amy
Thanks it was quite fun in the end! x
Mariet
How often during the day do you drink the smoothies? Thanks!
Amy Treasure
At normal meal times but as they are quite large you might want to just sip at it sporadically. Hope that helps, Amy.
Danielle
Thanks for sharing your recommendations with us. I am very interested in trying these detox cleanses but I must say, more specificity is definitely needed. If you’re drinking six a day when are you supposed to drink the other three if you’re not having them also at breakfast lunch and dinner.
I did make the emerald detox, to only read much later on that I’m supposed to add water. This information should be a part of ingredients to include.

My goodness you've done well to get through three days! I like the idea of doing a detox but I know my husband would think it was seriously strange if I didn't eat with the rest of the family. I'll have to see if I can do just a breakfast and lunch detox while he isn't here!
Amy
I know what you mean, I felt a bit bad that I wasn't eating with the family as it's the time when we all sit down together and have a chat over food. This could definitely work as a breakfast and lunch thing though and would probably be even more sustainable doing it that way x
Aya
How much is one portioned “meal”
Amy Treasure
350ml or 12 ounces
Harps
So glad I read this - it's inspired to kick my backside back in to gear! I've gained so much weight during the festive period and also feel so bloated and unhealthy. I don't know if I can do it for 3 days straight (especially as we end up going to friends and relatives houses every other day!) but I may try incorporate it for at least half days!! Or am I just making excuses?!... Hmm! #thelist x
Amy Treasure
I think half days could work really well. I do that quite often as then you have real food to look forward to. This would defo help lose a few pounds and give a kick start. I've piled on weight over Christmas so you're not alone! x
Lisa (mummascribbles)
This sounds great and well done for making it through three days. I'd have to do this over a weekend because I just can't commute and work being hungry! I tried the 5:2 diet and was almost passing out on the journey home! Three days sounds so do-able though. I might have to get my blender out! #TheList
Lisa
What made you choose the ingredients that you did ? Do they all have a specific detoxing benefit ? I am most curious about the cashews as you don’t often see nuts in a cleanse. I am trying your cleanse next week! Thanks
Amy Treasure
Hi Lisa, all the ingredients were chosen for their healing properties. Going into all the specific detoxing benefits would take a long time but I will say all the ingredients have been carefully selected and I also had a nutritionist verify the recipes. Cashew nuts because they are low in carbohydrates, have no cholesterol but provide a really good fat source so they aid the cleansing process. Good luck!
Catie: An imperfect mum
Well done you for no giving up. You must feel amazing. I'd love to try it but I know I won't I'm don't have enough will power!
Emma Jones
My mum loves juice diets but it's never appealed to me plus I don't want to shell out on a juicer. V interesting post though. I'll share with my mum.
Michelle Reeves (The Joy Chaser)
Haha sorry had to have a chuckle at your day one diary But seriously having a diet cleanse is a great way to boost your system and your recipes sound fab. Must look into the Nutribullet as my food processor juices but takes too much washing up! #The List xxx
Jodie
What times are best to do? Also what order?
I'm wanting to do this as a 3 Day cleanse, no food just this and plenty of water. Is this ok?
Amy Treasure
Hi Jodie, you can drink the smoothies at your normal meal times but as there is quite a lot of liquid you might want to space it out over a longer time period. I drink them in any order other than the white one which is nice before bed or any time you're craving something sweet. It's absolutely fine not to take any food while on this cleanse but be sure to drink plenty of water. Hope that helps! Amy
mummy and monkeys
Wow well done! We have a NutriNinja and I go through phases of using it regularly and then not again. I try and do it for breakfast. #TheList x
Jordan
What order did you drink the juices? Like which colors for breakfast, snacks, lunch, dinner? How do they taste? I'm starting tomorrow but am a little nervous they won't taste very good lol!
Amy Treasure
Hey Jordan, I didn't have a specific order and just drank which ones I fancied and then the left over the following day. They taste really, really good! Wish you all the best with it I think you will love it. Let me know how you get on x
Marine Kojoyan
Hi Hun , I am going to do your 3day detox tomorrow,I want to know can I make all 6 juices at the same time and keep them to refrigerator?
Mary Jones
Hiya Amy, liked your post my daughter Emma shared it and I've just got around to reading it properly. Did you actually juice or blend, seeing a picture of a nutribullet confused me. Love the fresh ingredients and yes once over the hurdle of the first few days. A clarity does begin and a sense of well being. I actually remember one night I couldn't sleep at all my head was just too alert! I'll be starting a 7 day juice soon myself, I need a kick up the rear to get back on the healthy track. Good luck to you.
Anna
Hey,
Well done for this cleanse! Sounds great. The question I'm dying to ask is, did you lose any weight?!
Mary
Yes I lost weight BUT it will only stay off if bad habits don't creep back, and my life has been a roller coaster of weight on, weight off!! It has to be a lifestyle change forever which is something I'm yet to conquer and at 62 I hope it doesn't take much longer ha ha
Amy Treasure
I did lose weight, I think it is inevitable with a liquid diet it's definitely an amazing kickstart to a healthy routine and I still have a smoothie or juice every day and feel so much better - skin looks better etc. You should try it!
Mary
Shame I couldn't put a pic on, I did just finish my day with a smoothie and scrummy it was too :) it was 2 oranges, half a beet, quarter of a pineapple, ginger and quarter of an avocado and yesterday I juiced all day. One day I'll get the mindset to carry on the healthy regime but I always find an excuse or some event/occasion to fall at. Glad you can keep up the good work :)
Amy Treasure
I am exactly the same, I will never be a skinny mini because I love food too much and eat out quite a bit. I feel being healthy like this during the week helps to even it out though. Your smoothie sounds lovely, I really like avocado in a smoothie and beetroot is so good for you. Might dabble with wheatgrass at some point but apparently it is disgusting - I heard it's like drinking liquid sunshine but tastes gross haha! You should tweet me a pic!! :)
Mary
Ha ha I think the wheatgrass is for hardcore juicers and health fanatics! I did try some pea protein to put in my juices, it was yuk!! Its still sat in the cupboard from last year, I might give it another go in a smoothie and see if its any better :) Found you on Twitter and you now have pic :)
Ebba
Im inspired and all prepped to start this tomorrow! Thanks for the recipes. Did you use the standard nutrabullet flask or the smaller ones?
Corinne
Hi Amy. Love your blog! Giving your juice cleanse a try and just blended my first juice (the Ruby), yet seem to have made enough for 3! Is that supposed to be the outcome so I can save for the next few days, or are the recipes enough for one juice? I'm using a Nutribullet yet it seemed to overflow!
Amy Treasure
Ah thank you so much! Sorry to just be coming back to you now, I've been on holiday. Yes, the quantity is for 3!
Pinkoddy
Well done. I hadn't thought of doing half days. I did manage to swap breakfast for juiced raw vegetables. Well done all that carrot too - I find it hard going
Amy Treasure
I've started having carrot with loads of ginger I love it. I need to try some turmeric shots next!
Sinead (shinnersandthebrood.com)
I've never done anything like this but I'm inspired! I love the sound of the gold one. Looks like it was a real success for you! Well done! A flat stomach is the holy grail! Lol!

I did Jason Vale's plan before but found it hard and some of the juices not so nice. I really need to start using my nutribullet properly again. The bonus is that N loves the drinks in it too.
Jade The Parenting Jungle
I have heard amazing things about these nutribullets. I enjoy juice diets and usually buy them which is very lazy so should invest in getting a juicer. It is such a good way to pump a load of goodness into your body. I like the sound of three days so you do not start dreaming about sandwiches! I find after I do a juice detox it really incites me to start healthy eating, you start from a good place :) These recipies are fab #TheListLinky xx

Hi Babs
Thanks so much for your comment. I'm really pleased you're excited to try this cleanse out!
I just wanted to let you and everyone else know that I've updated the post this morning (13th Sept 17). Thanks for mentioning the issues you found with excess ingredients. When I first wrote this I'd only tried the cleanse once and wanted to make sure there would plenty of ingredients but I realise this could be costly for those wanting the exact amounts. I've since done this cleanse many times so I'm now more aware of what is needed so there aren't too many leftovers. I've made a printable shopping list which reflects the quantities needed to make 6 juices - one per day from each recipe. There may be a slight excess depending on size of fruit and veg but hopefully not too much!
Thank you for pointing out the issue around raw honey or agave nectar, although the recipes state one or the other I appreciate the original list was confusing so I hope that's been made clearer on the updated version plus the additional info I've added to the top of the post.
In regards to the amount of water needed, I feel that this is really trial and error on your part. It will depend on how powerful your blender is and what consistency you like your drinks. I would suggest adding just enough to cover your fruits and vegetables, to begin with and then more if required.
I really hope that helps and happy cleansing! Do pop back and let us know how you get on :)
Amy
Debbie
You keep mentioning juicing but I see you also mention adding water and a nutra bullet. This sounds more like smoothies than juicing. Can you please explain. I bought everything to juice but not I'm not sure you actually meant to extract the juice but blend everything together
Amy Treasure
Hello Debbie - did you see the first paragraph? Here it is in case you missed it:
I’ve had a few people messaging me to say this is not a juice cleanse it’s recipes for smoothies. Technically it is, you’re right! When I cleanse I use a Nutribullet to make the smoothies. It doesn’t extract juice and instead blends up the fruit and vegetables retaining the pulp and thus the all-important fibre. If you want to use a juicer or a blender that’s your choice, either way, the recipes will work. I personally feel a blender is the healthier way to cleanse but each to their own :)
I also mention about the water, here it is in case you missed that part:
The method to make the juices is the same for all recipes. With each of the juices, you will need to add water to the other ingredients. I’ve been asked a few times how much water is required, but that can be a bit of a how long is a piece of string question as it will depend on how powerful your blender is and what consistency you like your smoothie. I suggest you experiment with the amount of water and adjust as per your requirements.
This would be a really long post if we went into the difference between juicing and blending but as I have said a few times in the post and answering queries in the comments: the recipes are the same regardless, common sense says that if you're juicing you will get less volume but I made sure the recipes were plentiful and that each would give either a) a full cup of juice (if juicing) or b) some leftovers depending on which blender you use, how much water you add (eg your preference over a thicker or thinner smoothie)
Hope that helps and thanks so much for commenting :)
Debbie
Thank you
maria louise
Hi Amy,
Just about to start this (we’ll tomorrow) love your honest but made me chuckle diary about doing this,
Amy Treasure
Hi! I am so glad you liked it. How are you getting on?
Gina
Hello, does each smoothie recipe make enough for the whole three days? I'm using a nutribullet too and it would probably have to be done on two lots to make each smooth as the ingredient wouldn't fit. Also the cashew nuts on the shopping list are the same weight as the ingredients for one smoothie so I wasn't use if you just divide that up over the three days?
Thank you can't wait to start!
gina
Hi Amy,
Just started my second round of juicing today, Absolutely loved the results and lost half a stone doing it (a couple of which I have put on again hence starting again!)
I am a big eater but still found the amount too much for me. When doing it I cut out the emerald one and halved the portion sizes for the lean green and the ruby, still feeling full at the end of the day. I have had trouble however with the caffeine withdrawals and been very tired through the day have you got any tips?
Thanks!
Amy Treasure
It can give such excellent results, I'm so glad you've enjoyed doing it. I know what you mean about feeling full - but just think about all that excess liquid, I was so surprised when I really didn't feel hunger at all. I would just keep doing what you're doing and cut down when you know the drinks are too abundant or you can't squeeze another one in.
As for the caffeine withdrawal - I hear you! I would recommend a hot lemon with fresh ginger, or you could try a turmeric shot made fresh. This should help with the caffeine lag you've experienced. Happy cleansing :-)
Michele
Hi Amy!
I have been a regular weekly meal prepper for over a year now. But after this 4 day weekend of eating and drinking, I wanted to kick off the week healthy by drinking juice for a day or two. Part of meal prepping is finding recipes that sound good to nosh on for the week. So I started looking for recipes for my NutriBullet (which I hardly use). I came across your site! I had considered going with a program that costs $80 or more but was curious to see how I could do. I made a day's worth of recipes. I am drinking the gold juice now which is a great pick me up in the afternoon. The Ruby was great as I love beets. I do notice though that the amount varies and is a personal preference on thickness. A few of my juices I have leftovers which I won't let go to waste tomorrow. I do have extra veggies too as it was easier to buy a bag of kale that just a few leafs. This will just make me eat those veggies instead of waste them. I will tell you though I figured out that removing the skin of the fruits and veggies makes it less pulpy. So I think your readers will just have to work with the consistency. I may use coconut water on the next round.
Thanks for the inspiration and the great recipes! I am looking forward to the White tonight!

Hi Michele! Thanks so much for commenting and I'm so glad your search led you here. Totally agree that the amounts and thickness is a bit of trial and error but you seem to have it sussed. Very good point about removing the skins to reduce pulp-I don't mind it so much but I know others can't stand it so that is a wonderful tip. Thank you for commenting and I hope you enjoyed the cleanse as much as I do. Best, Amy.

Hurrah, that's what I was looking for, what a material! existing here at this weblog,
thanks admin of this site.

Ran across this blog last week in search of a DIY juice cleanse, and decided to try your recipes this weekend.
I must say, that even though you have adjusted the amounts of your original post (and I further adjusted after reading all of the comments), there was still A LOT of produce left over. In fact, for most of the recipes, one day's worth of ingredients lasted the entire three days. (I still haven't finished using up all of the ingredients for ONE Ruby juice - and I'm on Day Three!) I am shocked that you were able to fit an entire recipe in your Nutribullet! You must have mad packing skills that I do not posses. ;-)
I'm not really complaining because the produce will be eaten, and even though I apparently vastly overbought, it was still significantly cheaper than purchasing a pre-made juice cleanse.
However it might be helpful for you to include pictures of your steps/ingredients to give us some idea of the size and amounts that you are indicating.
On the other hand, I did lose about 4 lbs, so that was a nice result. :-)
Amy Treasure
Hi Chrystal - thank you for your comment. I'm really glad the cleanse mostly worked out for you and the weight loss is a great result. If I ever get the time I'll reshoot the entire thing with pictures, that's a great idea. Thanks for the 4 stars :)

How much Celery did you use? Im confused about the stalks of celery.
Crystal
I cut the celery servings into half or thirds because it just would not fit in my Nutribullet.
I think I ended up using 1 to 1.5 stalks for each recipe that calls for celery.
Honestly, if you just get one bunch (bag? group?) of celery, you will have plenty. I bought two, and my second bag rotted before it could be used.
Amy Treasure
Did you buy the long celery or short sticks? I used the sticks :)
Crystal
That would make a very big difference! Those short sticks that you buy in a container are about 1/4 to 1/3 a regular stalk of celery. So, if you're calling for 2 sticks, that is significantly less.
Maybe a good note to add? :)
Amy Treasure
I use the shorter sticks they are about 4-5 inches long. Does that help?
Baltazar Torres
Question?
Do you mean 4 sticks of celery?
Im going out today and dont want to wipe out AZ of all of its celery!
Thank you,
Amy Treasure
Short sticks - yes, they blend to not very much at all so it's the reason there are several rather than just one. How did you get on? By the way drinking just blended celery juice on its own has AMAZING health benefits and is really good to reset the gut so if you have any surplus you might consider drinking straight celery juice. Let me know how you get on!
Emma
I'm about to go and buy all the ingredients but I dont haven anything to put the juices in. Did you buy specific bottles & if so where from? I cant seem to find any.
Kim
Hi I'm on the first day of this juice cleanse. I found the recipe per serving is a lot, I struggle to finish it plus it's very thick. I added a lot more water so it's easier to drink. I'm wondering if I can cut the recipe in half? Or one recipe for 2 people? (My husband is doing it with me, he also think it's too much) Will it reduce the nutrition we need per day? Thanks!
Jordan Baxter
Hi!
Can I make these ahead of time?
Filipa
After the Christmas celebrations I was looking for a detox, mainly I felt the need to eat something with sugar or chocolate multiple times a day. And so I decided to follow this 3 day detox plan which was a very positive experience. I managed to eat 1/2 smoothie, the full dose was a bit too much for me, and only managed to eat 3-5 smoothies a day. I simply was full for a long time after each one. I also found that I’m not a celery fan, so I started replacing it with other veg. If any one has any suggestions for any suitable replacement let me know. The result was a slightly lighter me, a lot less bloated and no sugar or sweets cravings. What I struggled with was that I missed biting and chewing on food and also missed hot meals, so I drank lots of tea. I did this when I was off work, so not sure how it will feel on a work day or working week, but I will definitely repeat the detox. Thank you for this plan!
Amy Treasure
You are very welcome, so glad it worked well for you :)
Ryan
Does the recipe make 12 or 16 ounces per drink?
Olivia
Most of the juice recipes are not great tasting and I think juice cleanses are not healthy. I’m at the end of day 3. I don’t have more energy, I don’t have better skin, I’m hungry, I’ve had a headache for 3 days and I’ve had to eat a handful of nuts each afternoon just to keep my blood sugar from crashing. I think the whole talk of “healthy cleansing” is coded language for an acceptable way to starve yourselves. Our bodies are made to keep themselves healthy as long as we have a well balanced diet. This did nothing but make me feel worse.
Amy Treasure
I think it's safe to say from this comment that juice cleansing is not for everyone. Have an amazing day :)
Jen Steward
I have been feeling really run down and I came across these recipes; I have just been adding them, 1 every day, to my diet, and I gotta tell ya, I am feeling better. Made me realize how much I had been neglecting my health, and I am inspired to be more mindful of what I put in my body for the rest of the day. My son has even been joining in, says they taste "healthy", which means, I am guessing, his body was craving nutrients too. So, for those of you who aren't up for a fast, give some variation of that a try--especially if you are feeling down. Your body, and your mind, will appreciate it! Anyway, thanks so much for this, Amy! Keep them coming!
Amy Treasure
I am so delighted to read this and that the detox worked so well for you. I totally agree that adding 1 a day makes such an enormous difference to well being :)
Lisa Tamblyn
Do I need to make these daily or all at once for the three days?
Thanks!
Amy Treasure
You make them in advance for the three days and keep them in the fridge or freezer.
Andrew
I love this post. I checked out your blog site pretty often, and you're constantly
coming up with some decent staff. I shared this blog post on my Twitter, and my followers loved it!
Good luck for the future.
Amy Treasure
Thanks!
Gina
I am doing this right now and so far so good!!! They all taste amazing!! Thank you so much! This is my first one and I really like it so far!
Amy Treasure
Hi Gina, I am so pleased to hear this. Thank you for the amazing feedback!!
Lena Pierce
Hi! How many ounces is each juice you drink?
Noel
Hi, thanks for your receipt, however I try to follow all the instructions, I’m not sure is because the size of my fruit or am I make by mistake, the first 3 receipts have lots of juice, If you don’t mind I can send you the pictures and see, is it the beetroot and the celery is too big and make the juice too much
Amy Treasure
Hi Noel, thanks for getting in touch. I would imagine it is the celery and probably not the beetroot. Where do you live? The celery I used was the short sticks as opposed to the very long celery you can buy as a bunch. Hope that helps, Amy.
lauren
i love this! i’m on my third day and i find 6 juices are too much for me. my favourite ones is the white, gold and yellow which i have daily but i try and throw in a couple of the veggie ones. on day 1 i had 3, day 2 i had 4 or 5. i especially like the white with the cashew nuts, gives that extra bit of crunch and the added fat is a great bonus - really helps with cravings!
Amy Treasure
So pleased to read this, Lauren!
Lashelle Richardson
I loved the recipes. I did the 3 day cleansing and lost 9lbs.
Amy Treasure
Amazing, thank you so much for sharing!
Holly
We found the quantities were very large and after making 2 batches of our first Ruby juice and having a litre each and it being quite to consume, we decided to make the other juices to the recipe but split between the two of us. So essentially each recipe is good for 2 people.
We added banana to the Gold and the Ruby which helped the taste immensely. We added an extra lemon and a banana to the Emerald as we weren't able to get parsnips. This also tasted lovely. The cashew one is absolutely delicious, we added some cacao powder and a few blackberries to this.
Found we had to blend them for a quite a long time to get the consistency nice. Thanks for the inspiration, feeling great on the 3rd day.
Amy Treasure
Hi Holly, I'm so glad you are feeling great. Thanks for the feedback on quantity that's really useful for other people to know. Can I just double check that each recipe made enough for 2 people over the 3 days? Because each recipe should be enough to divide between 3 days (you'd need to store it) If I can get an understanding of that it would be great because I will think about rewording if it's not clear. If you get a chance and can get hold of parsnips do try it because although it doesn't sound nice it is delicious. The cashew one is my personal fav so I'm glad you liked it. As for your other question, I kept berries and bananas out of the recipes because although berries have many qualities and bananas are high in fibre they are high in sugar and calories. Oranges weren't in season at the time of writing up these recipes but I probably wouldn't use them for the same reason.
Holly A Quin-ankrah
Would love to know, Can I ask if there is a reason why there aren't any berries, banana or orange in these recipes ?
Christina
I'm about to make all 18 juices. My question is can I keep them all in the refrigerator over the three days or do some need be frozen?
So excited to try this!!
Amy Treasure
Hi Christina, you can keep them in the fridge for 3 days but you might run into space issues. If you decide to freeze you can just take out what you need every morning. Enjoy!
Jennifer
Hello Amy, How many ounces/grams should each juice/smoothie serving be? I see the similar recipes in the store are 12 ounces each. Would you recommend adding enough water to produce three 12-ounce servings?
Amy Treasure
Hi Jennifer, yes 12 ounces/350ml is correct. Let me know how you get on! Amy
Olivia
Hi i did this cleanse a couple years back and loved it! (I juiced instead of blending). I did it with my sister and i just remember making so much juice...but as i came back to read the recipe over to do it again this week, i realized you said each recipe makes 3...(and if i recall correctly, i made it each day, and consumed i guess 3 times a should have?) but i understand that can be quite a lot if you’re blending it, but i now worry for juicing, each recipe will only make about 8 oz/day of each juice, will that be sustaining enough? Would drinking 1.5 of those be too much each day? I really loved these recipes- and I’ve looked at other cleanses and the recipes look about the size of what you’re serving for 3 days...but i want to do this one again. I hope my question makes sense? Thanks!
Amy Treasure
Hey Olivia, thanks so much for getting in touch. Firstly, I am so glad you did this a couple of years ago and loved it! It's nice to see you back :-) So, since I published this recipe I have had a lot of people saying that they felt the proportions weren't right so I re-tested and scaled it back to eliminate potential food waste and readers being unhappy. It's hard because it really does depend on how big and ripe your fruit is when you blend it, the quantities I have found have varied so much for people in different areas of the world. So, to cut a long story short, if you were happy with the original quantities then I would go ahead and scale up the recipe. Juicing versus blending will result in different volume so take that into account. The cleanse was designed as a smoothie (blending) cleanse so also bear that in mind. It would not be too much to scale the recipes up 1.5x it's also fine to drink them in the quantities stated now. Each drink should be about 12 ounces. A short-term nutrient and calorie-deficit won't do you any harm. Please let me know how you get on? Amy
Renee
Hi,
I LOVE the sound of this :)
Just wondering, is it “healthy” to do it regularly?
For example, 3 days in a row per week? Or 3 days in a row per fortnight?
Thank you :)
Amy Treasure
Hi, Renee, I would recommend once per month for 3 or 5 days. Hope that helps :)
Ana
I am so excited to do this!!!!! I will comment on Tuesday 1/5/2021 when I complete the detox! Thank you so much. I hope it’s okay to use a juicer and then just crush the cashews with a mortar like you suggested? Thanks!!!!!
Amy Treasure
Hopefully, this reply reaches you in time! Yes you can crush the cashews up that way. Let me know how you get on with it!
Char
Hello! I found your page and it inspired me to do the cleanse this weekend. My question is, if I start the cleanse Friday morning, how soon can I prepare the juices? I purchased the ingredients two days ago and was wondering when would be the best day to make them. Thank you :-)
Amy Treasure
I would do it the day before because the veggies will stay fresher that way. Good luck!
Mayra
Day one so far so good! I’m shocked i am enjoying the taste. The gold is my favorite! Thanks for posting this.
Amy Treasure
So glad you're enjoying it. I love the gold, it's also my fav!
Lili
Do you have a grocery list for this a detox???
Amy Treasure
If you click 'print recipe' it will bring up a list.
Jillian
Trying this cleanse for my first time. I love juice. But I’ve gone with the blender method...I’ve added enough water to make 3 16oz juices. The flavor is great but my first smoothie was very thick. Like soup, not sure if I can handle the texture of the blended veggies... any suggestions? Do I add more water or is my ninja not blending smooth enough? Maybe I’ll just stick with the juicer...And Thank you for these recipes! Can’t wait to see how I feel on day 5!
Amy Treasure
Fine to just add a bit more water if they are too thick. Glad they taste good! You will feel amazing after 5 days!
Lizzie Whitmore
I have just prepped the juices, does a stalk of celery mean a whole bunch? I had to limit the celery just due to the volume of ingredients. I plan on making celery juice with the remaining.
I have made all the pulp now and will add water when i have a juice as don't have enough jugs and containers.
Thanks for the recipes, looking forward to cleansing after a very piggy eating month.
Amy Treasure
Hi, one stalk of celery is one stick (stalk) not the whole bunch! Hope you get on ok, Amy :-)
Kayla
Hello! I would recommend changing your recipe to say "sticks" or "ribs" then. Considering a stalk is the whole bunch, and a rib is a singular stick. Very misleading and is wrong. A stalk and a stick are completely different.
Amy
Rude. I recommend you consider the country a person is in before you tell them their terminology is wrong. Here in the UK a stalk is a single stick and not the bunch. The bunch is the bunch, surprise surprise. We never say “sticks” or “ribs”. In fact I’ve never heard that probably because I’M IN THE UK. Not misleading NOT wrong. I’m assuming you’re an entitled American - your culture forgets you’re not the only nation in the world. Newsflash: I write for my UK audience so your lazy dumb ass will have to interpret MY FREE recipe in your own time.
CAROL
I was really enjoying the posts and the comments and hoped to do the cleanse. Then I saw you and Kayla have a spat. I'm from the U.S., and I call a single stalk of celery a stalk a celery, and a bunch of celery is multiple stalks, normally still attached at the base where the root was cut off before packaging. I don't feel I'm entitled, and on a recent vacation my adult daughter and I had a great time sharing news and comparing traditions and vocabulary differences with two ladies we met who were from the U.K. I'm glad I had that positive experience before reading your comments about our attitudes and lazy dumb asses. Otherwise I might have generalized that all people from the U.K. have short fuses and a negative view of people from the U.S.

Hi,
on the shopping list it says 6 apples, 12 carrots etc this is x3 the amount stated on the recipes, so if I'm wanting to complete a 3 day cleanse 6 juices and make 3 of each juice would I follow the recipes or would I need to x3 the ingredient's as suggested on the shopping list?
Thank you :)
Amy Treasure
Hi, if you buy what is on the shopping list that is the correct amount for the 3 days.
Paige
Hi Amy! I’m really looking forward to doing this detox! Above in the nutritional information it says the portion size is 24oz, but you also said 12oz. Would you mind saying what worked best for you? Thank you so much!!
Mary Ann
Sigh. This is about the 20th cleanse I've looked at and NONE of them are allergy-friendly: coconut milk, tree nuts, almond milk, etc. I know that the cashews are for protein, but what's the substitute for a tree-nut allergy?
Ange
Hi Amy
I cannot buy parsnips anywhere. What can I use as a substitute?
ERICKA
Hi Amy!
I wanted to know what did you eat on day 4. I would imagine a small transition would help but I am here for your recommendation!
Also, I am on day 3 and feel good! Still a little sluggish but a lot of my juices were not fully pureed. The blender I had wasn't the best but I did ad more water so it was more of a juice with pulp. Is this ok?
Shelb
Hi! Sorry if this questions has already been answered, just a lot to scroll through. I am just wondering if there is an order you recommend to consume the smoothies/juices in?
Thanks!
Karla
where is the shopping list? can't find it in this page. thanks!
