What do you get up to with your kids during the school holidays? Outing to the park or the cinema perhaps? Maybe a little shopping trip? This half term we headed to Cabot Circus so I could be #dressedbythekids
Cabot Circus invited us along to the Next store so Holly and Rose could pick out an outfit all by themselves for me to try on. I was a little bit nervous as to what Rose would choose but had complete faith that Holly would be able to pick something I would love. I shop in Next all the time anyway so I was pretty sure that together they would come up with a fab outfit for me.
I really enjoy going for a girly shopping trip. It’s not something Rose and I do that often (she would much rather run around than shop) but with Holly being almost 16 it’s nice that we can share our love for fashion and makeup and there’s something really rather lovely about walking, arm in arm with your teenage daughter looking at the rails of clothes and beautiful makeup displays. Trying a spritz of perfume, a new lipstick, slipping your feet into a pair of shoes and having someone there to encourage or dissuade you accordingly.
We are very lucky that we only live a short 10-minute drive from the hustle and bustle of the city of Bristol. Since the development of Cabot Circus a few years ago, it is easier than ever to drive straight through the middle of town and park in the multi-story car park. Just a hop skip and jump (literally if you are shopping with a 3-year-old) over the flyover and you’ve arrived at the shopping centre. Cabot Circus is quite swish in comparison to other city centre shopping malls. It’s mostly undercover and has all the shops you’d expect such as House of Fraser, Topshop, and of course Next.
When we arrived at Next there were two other bloggers there who were also getting ‘dressed by their kids’. I felt lucky suddenly, that I had a secret weapon in Holly who knows better than to stitch me up with an outfit…
Rose probably had other ideas but kept in check by Holly together they came up with a fab outfit that I would actually wear. Perhaps minus the choice of footwear (thanks, Rose) but they did really well.
What do you think?
I really liked both dresses and am quite tempted to get the maxi dress for our forthcoming holiday to Greece. Well done girls!
After we were done with playing dress up and Rose had finished destroying the shoe display (oops!) we headed for a spot of lunch. There’s loads of good restaurants to choose from but we opted for YO! Sushi. Holly and I love to get sushi, it’s kind of our special place as we always go and eat there every school holiday. It was a bit risky taking Rose in as she was getting tired but she sat fairly quietly and ate noodles while Holly and I had miso soup and lots of sushi from the conveyor belt. It was really nice sitting down to lunch with my lovely girls.
We had a perfect day and it was brilliant fun being ‘Dressed by the Kids’ thanks very much to Cabot Circus for inviting us down and to Next for hosting us at the store. Also, an extra big thank you to the PR Lauren who looked after my girls (namely my rowdy little Rose) while I chatted with the other bloggers!
