We were recently sent a lovely book from My Given Name for review, I love anything that is personalised and always think it’s a lovely extra touch. Rose is getting to the age where she knows her name and will understand what is read to her and to have a book with her name in it is very exciting indeed!
The book itself is beautifully written with a lovely sentiment and the emphasis on being kind and considerate to others. Authour Kevin Tyler wrote the book with the intention of not emulating other children’s books with a name popped into regular text but rather aimed for a book that engages each individual child through every step of the story.
“I didn’t want to create just another personalised kids’ book that simply overlays a child’s name. I wanted a truly engaging story, magical characters and something that can have a real positive influence on children. This book, I believe, will set new standards. I hope you will find it inspirational”-Kevin Tyler
Kevin has achieved this, I don’t want to give too much away about how the actual story is put together for each child, I’ll let you find that out for yourselves. I will tell you once I had finished reading the story I said ‘clever Kevin’ quietly to myself because the way in which it is written is not a concept I have ever seen before, it truly is beautifully personalised and I really love that. Before even reading this book I was utterly blown away by the illustrations created by award-winning animation filmmaker and illustrator Pushan Chakravarty. His work is breathtaking and encompasses everything that a children’s story book should be: colourful, magical and enchanting and keeps the child completely engaged and interested in the story. Talk of the illustration brings me onto possibly the most exciting wallpaper mural I have ever seen and if I hadn’t just decorated Rose’s bedroom I would buy it tomorrow especially since Kevin has given my readers an exclusive £50 off for anyone that signs up to the My Given Name newsletter.
It really is something else isn’t it? The wallpaper and canvas prints currently on sale at Not on the Highstreet. Do check out the My Given Name website, as well as telling you a bit more about the beginnings of this book there will be personalised canvas prints available on the website soon and you can find out more about how to get some money off one of those. You can also sign up to the My Given Name newsletter and you will then receive your discount codes. My Given Name book ticks every box for me, personalised, teaches a meaningful lesson, beautifully written and exquisitely illustrated. I really couldn’t ask for any more because it is the entire package. Congratulations to My Given Name for creating such a stellar product that comes highly recommended from me and, of course, the most important person my little Rose.
