Spring makeup look with Body Shop and YSL

Spring make up look using Body Shop shimmer cubes, YSL lip gloss, YSL mascara
A few forgotten items in my makeup bag this week, in honour of spring, I quite often switch my makeup about to suit the seasons. Does anyone else do that or is it just me?
I bought the Body Shop shimmercube last spring (it’s still available) when it was spend £50 get £25 off this worked out to be quite the bargain, I haven’t used it much what with the recent house move and most of my makeup ending up in storage but as the bedroom is nearing completion I am having a sort out and thought I’d use it this week and show you.

I don’t usually think about The Body Shop when it comes to makeup, I am loyal to my MAC palettes but was drawn to the interesting cubes.

Body shop shimmer cubes, YSL lip gloss and YSL babydoll mascara

I’m very pleased with the eyeshadow quality, it’s nice and creamy, well pigmented and not too sparkly whilst giving off a pretty sheen. The orange/red colour is what I would call a starter orange, it’s not too strong but enough to look different to your usual everyday colour. Today I used the gold colour all over, dark brown on the lashline and gently blended into the socket and then a gentle wash of the orange all over. I used a bit of MAC teddy eye pencil (an old favourite) on my lower waterline.

Next up is my new YSL babydoll mascara. I really like this mascara, it’s a true black and nice and build-able. It doesn’t go dry on my lashes and gives good length, curl and separation without looking OTT. There is a big difference between this and the false lash which is my night out go-to mascara from YSL. If you want loads of thick volume go for false lash, if you want nice definition go for the babydoll. Either way, you can’t really go wrong with YSL mascara.

I am a little obsessed with lipstick, I own more than I care to admit to. I just find enormous pleasure in going out and treating myself to a new lippy. I absolutely adore YSL for their packaging it’s almost up there with Guerlain in the ‘packaging porn’ stakes! Seriously, you will understand what I mean if you are a fan of Guerlain packaging.

The YSL I’m wearing in the pic is No.12 Coral Fauve it’s a gorgeous pink/coral which wears off to a ‘your lips but better’ shade. Perfect for teaming with a stronger eye, or if you want to look like you haven’t tried too hard. Mine stayed glossy for about two hours and the stain hung around for a further three hours which was good going. I highly recommend getting at least one for your collection. Fantastic quality, great colour range to suit everyone and brilliant staying power.

Gorgeous makeup choices! Yes, I also change my makeup with the season. I am quite addicted to YSL Chromatics shadows at present so no switching for ages now!
Hope I can get those shimmer cubes at my Body Shop – they’re gorgeous!

I love the shimmer of the cube and how you’ve blended it and you got a good old bargain there! I would definitely need to practice applying it subtley/correctly as I don’t tend to wear eyeshadow.

I’m so boring… I hardly change my make up at all! The only difference for me is perhaps a share darker foundation and bronzer instead of/as well as my blusher! But you look lovely. Also, I really *want* to wear lipstick, but just never do… I don’t even know why. Time? Effort? I love a strong lip – maybe I’ll make THIS the year I start wearing it! xxxx

Gorgeous! I’ve never given the body shop much thought for makeup I am currently using a lipstick of theirs which is really nice and creamy though. Sounds like I need to pop in there, maybe have a consultation. YSL has always been one of my fav luxury brands and I tend to buy as a treat or receive as a gift, lovely quality in great packaging. Also I’ve found out recently that L’Oréal products are made in the same factory with the same ingredients as another really expensive brand so I’ve saved a little money with their pieces too instead of spending plenty on the expensive brand x #thelist

Lovely look that I can cheerfully create with what I have already :) The best kind. Really suits you.

I’m very loyal to my Urban Decay eyeshadows – which I prefer to Mac tbh. Not tried much YSL though. I shall have to have a look next time I’m passing.

Those little cubes are exactly the shades I’d go for – and I love a shimmer for summer. I never really go into Bodyshop much but I do have some of their makeup from a while back when I attended a Bodyshop party – and it is really nice quality. I’d love to see more makeup posts – I’m always a bit rubbish at updating my makeup bag! #TheList xx

    I would LOVE to see some more make-up posts, you always look divine {although that’s probably more to do with your good looks!}

My Grandma used a lot of YSL so it’s something I always wanted for myself, she was a wonderful lady. Always made up and so strong and had a ‘put some lippy on and face the world’ attitude.

Love your look, glam but natural! I used to shop in Body Shop a lot when I was younger, I think my first few make up brushes were from there and still going strong may I add. Funny enough one of my colleagues used their hand sanitiser today and it smells delicious not all anti-bacterialey , you’ve just given me another reason to go back in and have a nosey! #TheList
