The Style Edit: Jungwon Raincoat

Hello and welcome back to The Style Edit. Apologies that this wasn’t published last Friday as usual but I was organising a charity campaign that some of you might have seen trending on social media!

A couple of weeks ago I was sent this amazing piece from a collection by contemporary designer Jungwon-inspired by living and working in New York, these minimalist garments offer a high quality finish that are waterproof, windproof, wrinkle free and breathable.

Vivid orange Jungon raincoat

Jungwon have dressed the likes of Sam Smith and members of Rudimental and I can see why these uber cool celebs are endorsing this fantastic brand. The design says urban chic to me and is incredibly on-trend whilst retaining its functionality.

The vivid orange colour is right up my street in terms of fashionably standing out from the crowd, I do get bored from wearing the same old black waterproof jacket. When my Jungwon raincoat arrived I was so delighted I actually wanted it to rain! Perfect to be worn at this transitional time of year, when the seasons are changing and there’s a good chance you will get wet. The material is so light, yet completely rain and windproof and was put through its paces on a recent weekend walk around the howling hills of Wales. I remained totally warm and dry-I even got compliments from fellow walkers who stopped to watch as I clambered through the undergrowth to pose in my jacket amongst the ferns and trees. One lady even took the name of my blog down so she could see this post and how the pics turned out!

I can see myself popping this jacket on over a winter jumper, as it is so light and comfortable and the orange colour will certainly brighten up a dull and grey winters day, I am pleased to say it will definitely become a wardrobe staple.

Here’s a video featuring the outfit I wore to interview Denise Van Outen and Mark Heyes at Bristol Fashion Week

What do you think of this jacket, do you like wearing bright colours?

I normally don’t wear bright colours, but I think for rain jackets like this it works, and I wouldn’t mind trying it! x

I don’t wear bright colours ever but I do love this jacket and you make it sound like something I really need… I dread to ask the price?!
Do they do it in other colours?
    Lovely pictures as well.
Do you think it would be good enough in the full throng of winter with a jumper and scarf underneath or an additional warmer jacket would be needed?

    Sorry for the Q&A!

Hi Shareen! Thank you, I really love it and have worn it daily since it’s arrived. I love it so much because of the colour and its versatility. Ok, so it’s not exactly cheap but due to the conversion rate from dollars to pounds it only works out the same price as a decent quality jacket from a good high street store BUT it’s designer and it is a hugely popular label both with celebs and New York folk. This is the sort of piece that is a wardrobe staple but is a good investment for future seasons as it won’t date. It could absolutely replace your winter coat and would be fine with a jumper under it, it is completely windproof. I would only wear a jumper on an extremely cold day as the material is very sophisticated and won’t let in any chill. They do other colours: Yellow and black, the yellow is gorgeous, if you check out the cite one of the Rudimental girls is modelling the yellow one in the celeb gallery, it really is gorgeous. If I had to chose, I would get the orange again because it brightens up an outfit effortlessly. Now go on and treat yourself! Let me know which one you get :) x

What a gorgeous colour! I loved your comment that you wanted it to rain so you could wear your raincoat. My Toddler believes if she puts her wellies on it will rain so she can puddle splash. Poor baby

Stunning coat Amy. I love it. The colour is really nice actually, I wouldn’t normally go for an orange but I think it really suits the style of coat. Looking fabulous in the pictures and the video was great :)

I would SO choose that jacket if I saw it in a shop. I love it and it looks gorgeous on you, especially with your lovely red lipstick.

I adore bright things and tend to choose fairly simple clothes, then use super in-your-face accessories/shoes/coats etc to make my statements for me!

Lovely post Amy. The photography is beautiful too xx
