Last week we were invited by the Bristol tourist board to experience a day trip to At-Bristol Science Centre.
I love living in Bristol it is a thriving city, extremely family orientated and easy to get around. There is always something to go and see or do and many attractions in the city centre; At-Bristol is situated in Millennium Square just next to the harbour. Easily accessible by bike, train, bus or car.
Before we embarked on our adventure we decided to go sheep spotting! There are a couple of nearby Shaun the Sheep, an exciting trail of 70 sculptures in all encouraging people to explore our great city. All the sculptures will be auctioned off at the end of the trail raising money for The Children’s Hospital, a fantastic cause.
Once inside At-Bristol we spent an hour exploring, having a look and playing with the exhibitions on the huge bottom floor. Interactive exhibits include a giant waterwheel, an indoor greenhouse, honey factory and even a life sized cow waiting to be milked! There is so much to see and do you could get lost for a whole day in there and even then you could go back the following day and do it all over again. We have been a few times over the years and it never gets boring, with new exhibits being added all the time.
It was so lovely for Rose to have both Lewis and Holly there to show her all the interesting experiments going on was completely thrilling for her and really lovely for me to watch. At-Bristol is an extremely hands on, educational and hugely fun experience for little ones, teenagers and adults alike.
Rose particularly enjoyed trying to figure out what was making the ball magically hover in the air and trying to work out how the water wheel worked. I loved listening to her walking around because she just saying ‘WOW’!
There are lots of exhibits examining the human body and discovering what makes our bodies work. We somehow missed the real human brain but we did get to see our own veins underneath the vein ray, something that Lewis found incredibly fascinating and even Rose had a go at putting her wrist under the infra-red light.
We saw how we all looked in slow motion-even though as you can see from the last clip in the video I was a little slow off the ground. It was so nice for me to hear the older kids discussing the different forces and strains our bones are under and all agreeing that my reflexes are slower than theirs because I am getting older, ahem!
Upstairs there was much problem solving to do as well as having a go at making our own animation and having some fun with giant bubbles which was seriously crowd pleasing, there were actually more adults around the giant bubble maker than kids which says it all really!
One of the best giggles I had all day was watching the kids appear on a screen as astronauts floating in space. The older children were completely amazed after taking a tour of the solar system, flying through the universe stargazing from their seats in the UK’s first ever digital 3D planetarium.
A video of just a few of our highlights...
At-Bristol is a wonderful day out for the whole family, with absolutely loads to do and a fantastic hands-on educational experience for the kids. Most of all it makes science interesting and fun and what’s not to love about that? We will go back and visit again and again.
If you get the chance to visit At-Bristol it really comes highly recommended from us, all the attractions in Bristol are well worth a visit. Watch this space for more reviews on what to do in Bristol and do let me know if there’s anywhere in particular you want to hear about.
*We were guests of At-Bristol for the day for the purpose of this review, all thoughts and opinions are as always my own.

I've been working in Bristol recently and I'm getting to know the City well. It really does have a lovely vibe about it, and very community orientated. This science centre looks brilliant and I love how they made the exhibits correspond with the Shaun the Sheep characters, so really tying it all in and keeping the children interested,
Great review and lovely photos

Looks such great fun! I really must take the kids to a science outing this half term. It is such a great fun and learning day. I bet they have many questions to "why" answered. :) #OurMovingPictures
