When I was a young girl my sister and I would cross the old railway line, hop over a gate, creep past the cows into a field with a hedgerow full of wild flowers and pick a bunch to take to our Grandmother. This is probably one of my oldest and fondest memories of my childhood and I remember the excitement I felt in presenting our beautiful bounty. My love for flowers has remained well into my adult life; I love photographing them, making flower crowns for my girls and decorating cakes with flowers, they are truly one of my favourite things.
Oh and it transcends that both my girls have flower names so you can really tell I have a floral affinity!
I adore having flowers in the house and buy a bunch each week trying to choose what is seasonal. I have even tried growing some peonies and ranunculus in my own garden but as we live on the edge of a thick wood there isn’t much light and so growing conditions aren’t great plus my fingers are not very green so it looks like I’ll stick with buying them from the experts!
Last week I ordered a beautiful bouquet from Bloom & Wild who carefully select fresh flowers and package them up in a box that fits through the letterbox, they send them next day delivery too, so a bunch or a monthly subscription would make a perfect last minute gift. It seems impossible to get a full bunch in a box that fits through the letterbox but I can assure you there is a full sized bouquet in there, nestled away top and tail ready to be unwrapped and displayed.
I was very impressed with the selection of flowers offered on the site, it wasn’t difficult for me to choose the ‘The Eloise’ with resplendent pink peonies that just so happen to be my favourites. Peonies aren’t around for long and so it’s important to make the most of them while they are! They will last a really long time, probably more than two weeks so they are well worth buying. There are lots of bouquets to suit all tastes and budgets and it’s easy to navigate the Bloom & Wild site with the ordering process complete in a few clicks.
When I buy flowers I often split a full bunch into smaller posies, cutting them short helps them to last longer and you can get 3 or 4 small arrangements to dot around the house or line up on the dinner table. I tend to move them around depending on my mood and put them in different rooms so I can enjoy them wherever I am. For vases I’ve used Mason jars that I’ve tied lace ribbon around.
If you’re looking for a beautiful seasonal and locally sourced bouquet or a reasonably priced flower subscription do check out the wonderful selection at Bloom & Wild and don’t forget to make the most of the peonies now whilst they are still in season.
These are so beautiful! You are so talented xxx
Beautiful, Amy!! You do exactly the same as me. I always split bouquets in to smaller posies. It feels like you get a house full of flowers that way.
