Free range fun (and ice cream)

    By Amy Treasure · Jun 7, 2015 · 12 Comments

Saturday mainly consisted of ice cream with the kids and then a trip to Nanny’s field for a ragwort party! Ragwort is poisonous to horses and this year it has been particularly bad so it was all hands on deck to go and do a spot of weeding, no mean feat when there is 13 acres covered with the stuff!

There was plenty of time for playing though and I am at my happiest watching the children run around an open field surrounded by dogs and horses. We are truly lucky and blessed to have this wonderful place to retreat to and let off some steam.

OH a ragwort party is EXACTLY what I need in my life!

Seriously though, I really miss being around horses and I'm a little envious that you have them already provided within the family. My Greek adopted family keep horses too but it's not the same when you have to take a plane and a bus and a ferry and a taxi to get there!

Haha pulling up ragwort is sooo fun! NOT. To be fair I spent most of my time sitting on my bus and taking pictures lol! I am quite sure you will get horses again one day lovely, try and remember the huge pain in the bum (and expense) they can be when they are your own! I am glad we are just able to visit rather than the endless early morning and winters breaking the ice in the water trough! xx

Gorgeous photos and it sounds like a lovely day. That top photo is amazing, I love the action shot and the fact that she is smiling! Our close friends have donkey's and my grandparents live on a farm with horses so we are also lucky to be able to go there and hang out.

I didn't know that ragwort was poisonous to horses, you learn something knew every day. The ice cream looks lovely, my kids would love to come and have a ragwort party, there is nothing they love more than pulling up mummy's plants so they'd be great at this ;) Thank you for linking up with #magicmoments

Oh yes it’s very dangerous to horses. Lol yep I know what you mean about the plants!! Your kids welcome anytime-I’ll give them a bit of weeding to do ;-) xx

Oh I love all of these photo's. I especially love the one of your youngest sat on your lap in the field and the one of her on the pony. I'm just about to start taking my 3yr old son for lessons as I want him to know the joy of a hack out on a sunny day #magicmoments

Thank you so much Hannah-this made me giggle because the ‘lap photo’ is actually my mother-in-law, I’ll tell her that you thought it was me lol! She does look bloody good for her age mind you! Totally recommend riding lessons for your little one, such an amazing experience for them x
