The countdown to Halloween has begun and what better way to celebrate this time of year than bundling together all your favourite Halloween treats on one giant platter?
For years we used to just dump all our sweet treats into a bowl but I'm a little bit obsessed with serving platters these days so I thought I'd share my Halloween creation.
It's so quick and easy to arrange all your Halloween treats on a platter and people go nuts for them, trust me!

How To Make A Perfect Platter
Grazing platter, charcuterie board, snacks tray. Whatever you like to call it, the key to a really good platter is to go for a wide variety of treats in different colours, shapes and textures.
It's a lot easier to put a platter together when it's based on a theme, in this case Halloween. There are so many fun treats available in the shops which will make your platter look amazing.
Platters are ideal for gatherings or parties as they take minimal effort but look impressive. Even if you're not having a party, laying everything out on a platter means you'll never be caught short when trick or treaters come to call.
Just try not to eat everything yourself. Muahahaha.
I recommend sticking to either sweet or savoury because no one wants an accidental chocolate eyeball stuck in the middle of their camembert...
You could always do one Halloween treat platter and then have a different charcuterie board for savoury things like crackers, different cheeses and vegetable crudites.
Help yourself platters are the way forward, people!
What Size And Shape Platter Is Best?
Over the years I've acquired a number of large wooden chopping boards, I mostly use them at dinner time to rest hot pots on as we tend to all help ourselves rather than dishing up onto individual plates (I'm all for giving myself an easy life!).
Chopping boards make really good platters so if you don't want to rush out and buy a round board or tray, that's an option.
You could also opt for a large round wooden board, such as my 40cm board you see pictured. Circular boards make everything look pretty so they are my preference for sweet treats or fruit platters. I've had mine a few years but here's a similar 40cm round Acacia Wood Board.
Alternatively, you could use a rectangular wooden tray like this one. Or a round tray like this.

How To Make A Treat Platter
- Gather all the items you'll be using for your platter.
- Space out a couple of cupcake cases or small bowls on to your board and fill them with small sweets such as chocolate eyeballs.
- Place any larger items on your board to act as a framework.
- Use a couple of taller cups for things like lollipops.
- Add items in groups of colour - try to vary it so different colours are next to each other.
- Once you can see how much space you've got to work with you can fill in any gaps with smaller items.
- For a final flourish add some pretend spiders (just make sure no one eats them by mistake).
- I popped a pumpkin ornament on to my platter and surrounded it with Halloween crackers and a skeleton hand for extra decoration.
