Chocolate Bark packed with colourful Easter decorations! Completely no-bake and only takes 5 minutes to prepare. Use it for an Easter egg hunt, a bake sale or pop it into treat bags and give it away for a festive treat.
I think it's pretty obvious how much I LOVE Easter. My recipe for Easter Egg Cheesecake has gone crazy on Facebook and my E is for Easter letter cake has been getting loads of hits lately.
This Chocolate Bark is so easy to put together, you don't even really need a recipe. It's a lovely one to make with the kids - they'll love the colourful mini eggs and marshmallow bunnies!
Chocolate Bark Easter gifts
I really like making a batch of chocolate bark and popping it into treat bags for my littlest one to give away at the end of the school term. The other kids in her class love it and it's a cheap way of giving a nice thoughtful Easter gift.
It would also be really good as an alternative prize at Easter egg hunt and probably much cheaper than buying individual Easter eggs.
How to melt chocolate
As I said, chocolate bark only takes a few minutes to prepare. It's really as simple as melting the chocolate and scattering the Easter decorations over the top.
To melt the chocolate set a heatproof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water. This is called the double boiler method. All you need to be aware of is that the bowl isn't touching the water in the pan.
Break the chocolate into pieces, put them in the heatproof bowl and stir with a spatula until the chocolate has melted, it will only take a couple of minutes.
Decorating Chocolate Bark
Once the chocolate is smoothly melted, pour it onto a silicone baking mat or into a tray lined with greaseproof paper. Use a spatula to smooth it out.
Next, get creative and add your toppings. I found some really cute marshmallow bunnies in Asda - they were only £1! I also used Malteser bunnies, Cadbury mini eggs, Smarties mini eggs and a few gold Galaxy mini eggs.
I added some brightly coloured confetti sprinkles for a pop of colour. That's all there is to it!
The chocolate bark needs to set in the fridge for a couple of hours.
How to store
When the chocolate has set take it out of the fridge and break it into pieces. I think the easiest way to do this is by hand rather than trying to cut it with a knife.
I had enough chocolate bark to generously fill 10 treat bags. I tied them up with yellow ribbon ready to give away at school when the kids break up for Easter.
You don't need to store the bark in the fridge but to keep it from melting you will need to keep it in a cool dark place.
Wrapped in cellophane bags the chocolate bark will keep for several months.
Top Tips
- You can substitute the milk chocolate for dark or white chocolate
- Microwaving chocolate, especially the white variety can cause it to seize.
- I recommend you melt the chocolate using the Double Boiler (Bain Marie) method for a smoothly melted chocolate that won't seize.
- This recipe is for Easter Chocolate Bark however, you can change up the toppings to turn it into Christmas bark, Valentine's bark, Mother's day bark or any other chocolate bark you can think of!
