Having never had a bike as a kid (I can ride one, badly) I am not that mum who can pop a toddler into a bike seat and merrily peddle away, I'm shaky and unconfident - and probably a bit dangerous - so I've never attempted that type of outdoor activity with the kids. Which makes me a bit boring I know. However, a couple of weeks ago Rose and I got a scooter each; a turquoise one for Rose and a white one for me.
And we have had so much fun! Scooters are not just for kids and it's been a bit of a revelation, actually.
Just like most kids, Rose adores riding a scooter she had a brand new Mini Micro Deluxe Scooter just in time for her fourth birthday and as a bonus and for double the fun, I got one too, a Micro Classic Scooter that has been engineered especially for grown-ups!
Micro Scooters are Swiss designed and popular the world over having consistently been voted toy of the year by millions of parents. It's not hard to see why parents and children love them so much because they really are amazing! You can see as soon as you open the box that the build quality is incredible. The scooters are strong and robust and easily assemble with just one click. The handlebars are height adjustable and the micro scooters are very comfortable to ride.
Rose's Mini Micro Deluxe has been really easy for her to get the hang of, she can turn the scooter by leaning the way she wants to go and because it's so light she can step off and manoeuvre herself down steps and pavements etc on her own. She is pretty nifty on it and I'm glad I've got one too otherwise I'd have a hard job keeping up with her!
Mini Micro Deluxe Scooter:
- Adjustable handlebar means the scooter grows with your child 43cm-59cm
- Scooter deck has a raised silicone micro grip
- The anodised stem protects the scooter from corrosion
- Weight 1.9kg
- Lean and steer handlebar
- Suitable for age 2-5 max weight 35kg
We've been all over on our scooters, whizzing up and down the lane that leads up to our house, around the park and out on day trips. We've had lots of remarks from other people saying how lovely it is that we're able to enjoy our scooters together, and what a good idea it is to have this lovely mother and daughter activity.
Rose has told me that getting the scooter has been her favourite present ever and I'd be lying if I said I don't feel the same about mine because I absolutely love it!
The Micro Classic Scooter looks really cool and is perfect for everyday use. I don't save mine only for when Rose is around but ride it to the village shops and us it when I'm out and about on my own. It's also really handy for when I take the dog out. Next time I have a meeting in London I'll be taking it with me because it's so easy to fold up and it's light enough to carry around. The big wheels mean it's easy to ride and really fast too, but there is a brake on the back in case you get carried away like I have and need to slow down!
Micro Classic Scooter
- Adjustable handlebar 72cm - 103cm
- Foldable
- Wheel diameter 200mm
- Aluminium frame
- Steers like a bike
- 360-degree steering
- Kickstand

The Micro Scooters are wonderful, they look great with their sleek design and fun colours, they are a quality item built to last.
What I love most of all is that Rose and I can enjoy our scooters together as mother and daughter, I don't have to stand on the sidelines and watch or run along behind her trying to catch up: I can be part of the fun too and it's really been a blast.
Here's to many more years of us scooting around together, just the two of us.
*Thanks so much to Micro Scooters for sending us the scooters. We love them!
